Calm – VDLP Day 4

Almaden to El Real de la Jara – 14km / 8.75 miles – now @ Alojamentio del Peregrino Albergue.

I am sitting and reading on a sunny roof terrace in a lovely albergue. The main crew are here too as we all skipped the main municipal albergue here in El Real de la Jara.

Last night in the Albergue Municipal in Almaden there were 12 guests in a 70 bed building. I managed to snag my own dorm room and as a result, slept really well.

I left the albergue around 9am for breakfast in a local bar before setting off into a misty morning.

There was a steepish climb out of Almaden, but I was rewarded with a nice view back over the tiny village bullring.

The walk today was only 14km so it was nice and relaxing after a long day yesterday. We walked through farms and some delightful countryside.

Overkill with the barbed wire.

The weather has been amazing today and the forecast is looking good now for a while. It’s such a relief as being chilly and wet everyday would quickly have worn me down. I really don’t do cold.

Was taking the umbrella with you worth it (weight, tired arms) or did it just protect a small part of your body?

I didn’t take one in the end, couldn’t find one light enough. Fingers crossed I won’t nee one now!

No rain in the forecast for quite some days. So I am going to forget that umbrella as well. Buen camino!
