One person reads this inbox. Expect an answer within two days; illegal-content reports and takedown requests within 48 hours.
Hut opening times, prices and facilities come from hut websites, alpine club data and hikers, and go stale. Email hello@longtrails.org with the hut or trail name and what you found; we correct it, usually the same week. For route conditions always check with the local authority or hut keeper before you go: see the safety section of our terms.
Sign-in is through Google or an emailed link. The link works once and for ten minutes; ask for a new one from the sign-in dialog if it has expired. Check spam for mail from noreply@longtrails.org. If the dialog says it cannot verify your browser, a content blocker is stopping the bot check; allow challenges.cloudflare.com and try again.
Open the menu (three lines, top right) and choose My Routes. Routes saved before you signed in live on the device you saved them on until you sign in there once; signing in with the same Google account or email on another device brings them across.
Map areas you download are stored in your browser. Phones may clear that storage without warning when space is short, so carry a paper map or an offline map app for anything you depend on.
The underlying map data is OpenStreetMap's, under the Open Database Licence. Our curated routes and hut facts are ours; ask at hello@longtrails.org before reusing them. Bulk download and scraping are not allowed. Every source and its licence is listed on the data sources page.
Every comment and trip report has a Report control, with a reason for illegal content. If you would rather email, or the content has no report control (for example a photo on a hut page), write to support@longtrails.org with:
We read these within 48 hours. If the request is justified the content is hidden or removed and the person who posted it is told why. If we disagree we tell you why, and you can come back with more. Photos published with a credit can be removed or re-credited at the author's request without any of the above: just say which photo.
For people in the European Union this page and the report control are our point of contact under the Digital Services Act. Long Trails is run by one person in the United States and is not a very large platform; the obligations that apply to us are the notice-and-action ones above.
